BAMS encourages the use of color by authors and does not levy additional charges for color figures. All sections of BAMS to which authors may contribute, with the exception of "Letters" and "Replies", are subject to page charges and the author's institution is expected to honor these charges. So that all sectors of the Society can participate in publishing in BAMS, a low page charge is assessed for the first four printed pages. The higher page charges assessed for longer articles allow the charges associated with color printing to be spread among all authors so that color can be used generously in the publication.
Normal page charges include both print and electronic publication; Meeting Summaries and other material published electronically only (i.e. Supplemental material) are billed at $50 per on-line page, any animations or movies count as one page. The forms (links below) include directions for estimating the page count for your manuscript. The "BAMS Initial Estimation of Page Charges" form is required at initial submission of a full manuscript; the "BAMS Publication Charge" form is required after final acceptance for publication.
Page Charges: $105* per page for each of pages 1-4
$290* per page for each of pages 5-8
$405* per page for pages 9 and over
Electronic only publications: $50 per page
Rich Media Files - $250 per rich media file (video/audio files to be inserted in the BAMS Digital Edition).
Reprints are available at an additional charge. All articles published in BAMS become part of the collection on the AMS Journals Online. The BAMS portion of this online collection does not require a subscription and is open to all, providing even broader dissemination of the articles published in BAMS. Articles are also part of the BAMS Digital Edition which offers members-only cover-to-cover online access to BAMS.
This form is required at initial submission. It may be uploaded with manuscript files or e-mailed to BAMS@ametsoc.org.
This form is required after a manuscript is accepted for publication. It is different from the Initial Estimate form required at submission; it includes all the information our accounting office needs for billing.
