Dr. Kristie Franz is Professor and Chair of the Department of Geological and Atmospheric Sciences at Iowa State University. Her research focuses on advancing hydrologic models and forecast systems for short to long-term prediction. Her work also includes improving the understanding of climate and land use impacts on watershed processes. She became incoming AMS STAC Commissioner in 2021.
Ankur Desai is Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His lab studies interactions of ecosystems with climate using long term in situ field experiments and numerical modeling. He became incoming AMS STAC Commissioner in 2019.
Dr. Genene Fisher is the Deputy Director at the NOAA Office of Ocean Exploration and Research. She is responsible for a broad spectrum of scientific, financial, and administrative activities for OER, including strategic planning, financial management, personnel management, policy and diversity and inclusion.
Bruce Telfeyan is currently the Deputy Chief of Plans and Programs for the 557th Weather Wing. He first joined STAC in 2008 serving on the Weather Analysis and Forecasting Committee and became the Chair in 2012 for a three year term. He became the Incoming STAC Commissioner in 2015 and the Current Commissioner in 2017. His focus is to do all he can to enable the 36 STAC Boards and Committees to achieve their goals and advance their portion of our science.
