Congrats to Jim Gandy and Paul Gross on earning fellowship. Will be recognized at the 98th annual meeting during a reception on Sunday evening.
Maureen discusses Bob Ryan Symposium. First day of conference devoted to Bob’s achievements. Talks to showcase things he started such as station websites containing weather info and school outreach programs. Invited talks planned with colleagues and interns as the speakers. Plans in the works for two panels; social media and another to discuss the benefits of naming winter storms. Monday evening reception to honor Bob. Paul Gross will discuss Bob’s contribution to station scientist position.
Station scientist presenters from most recent conference would like to present to a larger audience if possible. Possibly a reprise of their talks but maybe something different.
Discussed setting up a station scientist booth at the student conference.
Planning on having all station scientist committee themed talks during a one or two day block. Also hope to have a luncheon for committee members to meet face to face during the conference.
Possibly recognizing Joe Witte for his work in outreach to the broadcast community from NASA.
