24th Symposium on Boundary Layers and Turbulence Call for Papers

The 24th Symposium on Boundary Layers and Turbulence (BLT), sponsored by the American Meteorological Society (AMS), and organized by the AMS Committee on Boundary Layers and Turbulence, will be held 13–17 July 2020 at the Amadria Park Šibenik in Šibenik, Croatia. A preliminary program, registration, hotel, and general information will be posted on the AMS website (http://www.ametsoc.org) in March 2020.

Papers and posters are invited on all subjects dealing with atmospheric boundary layers and turbulence, including observational, modeling, theoretical, and applied studies. In particular, we anticipate that dedicated sessions will be organized for the following themes:

  • Boundary Layer Processes (theoretical, observational, or computational)
  • Atmospheric Turbulence
  • Observations and Modeling Related to Renewable Energy Applications
  • Observational and Modeling Studies of Boundary Layer Clouds
  • Exchange of Trace Gases (H2O, CO2, BVOC, Nitrogen) between the Surface and the PBL
  • Modeling and Observations in Heterogeneous, Complex, and Urban Terrain
  • Modeling and Observations over Vegetated Canopies
  • Boundary Layer Parameterizations in Models at All Scales
  • Theoretical and Practical Issues Associated with Multi-Scale Simulations
  • Land-Surface-PBL coupling, Impact of Heterogeneity as seen in Modeling and Observations
  • Unsteady Boundary Layer Behavior
  • Recent Field Experiments (CHEESEHEAD, LAFE, Perdigão, WFIP2, etc.)
  • Special Session on the Bora
  • Special Session on Fire-Boundary Layer Interactions

Please submit your abstract electronically via the Web by 20 February 2020 (refer to the conference webpage here). An abstract fee of $95 (payable by credit card or purchase order) is charged at the time of submission (refundable only if abstract is not accepted). The $95 abstract fee includes the submission of your abstract, the posting of your extended abstract, and the uploading and recording of your presentation, which will be archived on the AMS website.

Authors of accepted presentations will be notified via e-mail by mid-March 2020. All extended abstracts are to be submitted electronically and will be available on-line. Instructions for formatting extended abstracts will be posted on the AMS website. Authors have the option to submit supplementary information (up to 10 MB) electronically by 14 August 2020. All abstracts, supplementary information and presentations will be available on the AMS website at no cost.

For additional information please contact program chairpersons: Jeff Mirocha (jmirocha@llnl.gov), Zeljko Vecenaj (zvecenaj@gfz.hr), and Karmen Babic (babick@gfz.hr).
