The program committee for this conference seeks contributions on all aspects of mountain meteorology, including but not limited to:
A Session In Honor of Dr. John Horel (Applications of Mountain Meteorology)
Applications of mountain meteorology (e.g. air quality, fire dynamics, wind resource assessment, and winter sports forecasting)
Boundary layers and turbulence in complex terrain
Climate change and variability over complex terrain
Diurnal mountain winds and cold-air pools
Dynamics and physics of orographic clouds and precipitation
Education, outreach, diversity, inclusion and equity in mountain meteorology
The mountain cryosphere (snowpack, glaciers, avalanches)
Mountain hydrology and ecology
Mountain waves and airflow dynamics
New or emerging topics in mountain meteorology
Numerical weather prediction, data assimilation, and forecasting in complex terrain
Individuals wishing to contribute to the Education, Outreach, Diversity, Inclusion and Equity in Mountain Meteorology session through an abstract submission.
The Committee on Mountain Meteorology encourages abstract submissions from students: Awards will be given to the best student oral and poster presentations at the conference. Students must indicate that they wish to be included in the competition when submitting an abstract. Seven student travel awards will also be available to help supplement travel expenses and/or virtual attendee expenses. Please contact the conference chairpersons or refer to the AMS web site for further details regarding eligibility and how to apply.
Authors of accepted presentations will be notified via email by late March 2022. Instructions for formatting extended abstracts will be posted on the AMS website. Extended manuscripts (file size up to 3 MB) must be submitted electronically by 14 August 2022. All abstracts, extended abstracts, and presentations will be made available on the AMS website.

Best Student Presentation Awards
The Committee on Meteorology encourages abstract submissions from students for which awards will be given to the best student oral and poster presentations at the conference. Students must indicate that they wish to be included in the competition when submitting an abstract.
Student Travel Awards
Seven student travel awards (2 awards for $500, 5 awards for $100) will also be available to help supplement travel expenses for students who will be presenting at or virtually attending the conference. Students with limited travel/conference funding or traveling large distances to the conference will be favored for this award. Students from groups that are historically underrepresented in the sciences, including Black or African-American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Hispanic or Latino, female, LGBTQ, first-generation college students, veterans, and students with disabilities are encouraged to apply. To apply for this, the student should send a one-page justification letter by 27 April 2022 to the program co-chairs: Annareli Morales and Bianca Adler describing how this travel support would assist them in attending the meeting.
Young Scientist Conference Award (YSCA) sponsored by the European Meteorological Society
The European Meteorological Society invites applications for a Young Scientist Conference Award (YSCA) to support the participation of young scientists at the 2022 AMS Conference on Mountain Meteorology. The award includes financial support for travel expenditures of 500€. Please see the YSCA website for details on eligibility and application procedure. Application deadline is March 15, 2022.
