Typo with the Coupon

Typo, try again.

 

If the Coupon Code is entered incorrectly at checkout, the coupon is considered invalid. Try entering it again.

This coupon has already been used.

 

Each Coupon Code can be used only once. If your Coupon Code is new, you may have already placed your order. Try logging in and downloading the ebooks.

Timed out while reading online

Been away too long.

 

After 30 minutes, the online reader closes, which will also occur if a book is opened in two different browswers or computers. 

Close this tab and click on the Read Now button in the AMSEDU Bookstore eLibrary again.

Online server error

Can't fix it from this tab.


This occurs when you've timed out (if you're not active for more than 30 minutes) and try refreshing the tab that housed the book itself.

Close the tab with this error message then open the book from from the AMSEDU Bookstore eLibrary. (Return to that tab and click on the Read Now button.)

Downloading and Installing Digital Editions

The ePubs, both the manual and textbook, require Digital Editions to be read on a computer. You can install it for free to open your eBooks. The eBooks will NOT open with Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat.

1. Go to www.adobe.com/solutions/ebook/digital-editions/download.html

2. Click either Macintosh or Windows Link to download

Do you have a PC or a Mac?

 

3. Run the .dmg or .exe file

Click Run.

 

Click Yes.

 

Select "I accept the terms" then click Next.

 

Including a shortcut on your desktop will make it easier to access your ebooks

 

Click Install.

 

Watch the bar fill up.

 

All ready to go.

Authorizing your Computer the first time

By authorizing your computer with an Adobe ID, you can access your ebook on other computers and devices. Also, if anything happens to the computer you initially download the ebook on, the Adobe ID allows you to download the ebook again and access it easily.

While you can authorize without an Adobe ID, we recommend against it.

1. Open Digital Editions and, under the Help tab, click on Authorize Computer

Or type Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+U.

 

2. Ether enter your Adobe ID and password or, as shown below, click on the link for Create an Adobe ID and follow the prompts on the Adobe website

Click on Create an Adobe ID.

 

Clilck on Get an Adobe ID.

 

Fill out the form.

 

3. Once the Adobe ID and password are entered, click OK. If you receive an error message, you can try resetting your password

Click OK.


3. Close and open Digital Editions before downloading the ebooks.

Erase the Authorization on your computer

The authorization for your computer has become damaged. The best thing to do is erase the authorization and then authorize it anew.

1. Open Digital Editions and, under the Help tab, select Erase Authorization

Or type Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+D.

 

2. Depending on your version of Digital Editions, you may have to enter your password

If you forgot, reset your password here. (Or go here for instructions.)

 

3. Confirm you want to erase your authorization

Click Erase Authorization.

 

Click OK.

 

Now your computer has been de-authorized. 

You can reauthorization it by clicking on the Help tab, selecting Authorize Computer and entering your Adobe ID and password. For instructions on the process, click here.

Adobe ID and password from Adobe.com

If you need an Adobe ID, you can get one directly from the Adobe website.

1. Click here to go to the Adobe page and create an Adobe ID with your email and a password

Fill out the form.


2. In Digital Editions, click on the Help tab and select Authorize Computer

Or type Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+U.

 

3. Enter your Adobe ID and password then click Authorize

Enter Info, click Authorize.

 

Click OK.

 

4. Close and open Digital Editions before continuing. This will help avoid later issues.

Resetting password for Adobe ID

To access the ebooks on multiple computers and devices, you'll need to enter your Adobe ID and password on all of them. (Also useful if your computer crashed/reset and you need to download the ebooks again.)

1. Enter your Adobe ID here

Enter your email/Adobe ID.

 

 

2. Check your email for an email from cs-auto@adobe.com (Adobe Systems Incorporated)

Click the "this link" link.

 

3. Enter and retype your new password

All set.

Load a previous verstion of Digital Editions

If you're having trouble opening Digital Editions or have an older computer, you can try installing Digital Editions 3.0 or 2.0.1.

1. Uninstall current Adobe Digital Editions. (The program may freeze if a revious version is installed over a more recent one)

2. Go to www.adobe.com/support/digitaleditions/downloads.html

Download the best version for your computer.

AMSEDU Bookstore Password

If you've never created or have forgotten your password for the AMSEDU Bookstore, you'll need to request a new on.

1. Go to edubooks.ametsoc.org and request a new password on the left, above the RealTime Portal box. 

Click on Request new password.

 

2. Enter the email address or username you used when you downloaded your materials then click on Reset Password.

Click on E-mail new password.

 

A reset password has been sent.

 

3. Check your email, and click on the link provided. Create a new password.

Click on Log in.

 

Create a new password.

Returning to your eLibrary

If you need to download your books again, just sign in and go to your eLibrary.

Go to the AMSEDU Bookstore. You may need to request a new password.

Click on My Account.

 

You can read your webBooks (click on Read now) or download the ePubs (click on Download) depending on which format you purchased.

Saving and opening the ePub files on your computer

The ePubs should open automatically in Digital Editions when they are downloaded. If they don't open, or if your computer tries to open them with another program (such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, Microsoft Word or Notepad), they can be opened manually.

1. Return the the AMSEDU Bookstore. You may need to request a new password.

Click on My Account.

 

2. Right click on the Download button to save the files to the Download folder on your computer. All the epubs save as URLLink.

There should be a "save" option.

 

3. There are two ways to open the files in Digital Editions.

Option 1. Through Digital Editions

  a. Open Digital Editions. Under the File tab, click on Add to Library.

Or click Ctrl/Cmd+O.

 

  b. Browse to your Download folder
Change the File type from "E-Books (*.epub, *pdf)" to "Adobe Content Server Message (*.acsm)".

URLLink is an acsm file, so it won't show up as an epub file.

 

  c. Select each URLLink file

Click Open.

 

Option 2: Drag and drop

  a. Open the Download folder and open the Digital Editions Library (so you can see "Getting Started with Adobe Digital Editions")

Both Digital Editions and the Download folder must be visible.

 

  b. Drag URLLink from the Download folder into the Library

Other Devices

For other devices:

iPad and iPhone use the BlueFire app.

Any Android devices uses the Aldiko app.

Nook* and Sony already carry built-in readers.

*Newer Nooks may be Android devices, which use Aldiko.

E_ACT_NOT_READY or Error! Check Activation

You may see the above while downloadign the ebooks
or the below when trying to open them in Digital Editions

The authorization has been damanaged. The best thing to do is to erase the authrization then authoize your computer anew.

1. Open Digital Editions, click on the Help tab then select Erase Authorization (Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+D) and follow the prompts.

2. Then Click on the Help tab then select Authorization Computer (Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+U) and follow the prompts.

*Sometimes this shows as E_AUTH_NOT_READY.

E_ADEPT_NO_TOKEN

This is Adobe's way of saying something is wrong without specifying what.

Email us at material@ametsoc.org with the error message and your order number.

E_LIC_ALREADY_FULFILLED_BY_ANOTHER_USER

This means your download has been licensed to another computer. This happens when the ebooks are opened on a computer either that is not authorized with the same Adobe ID as the initial computer.

1. If the initial computer was not authorized with an Adobe ID, return to that computer and authorize it with an Adobe ID.

2. Authorize the second computer or device with the same Adobe ID and password as the first.

If you no longer have access to the initial computer, email us at material@ametsoc.org with the error message and your order number.

E_ADEPT_REQUEST_EXPIRED

There are two possible solutions for this notice.

1. This error message implies that the time, date or time zone on your computer doesn't match Adobe's time stamp. You can read more about it here.

2. You can solve this by clicking on the time/date in the lower corner of your desktop and following the prompts to change the time and date. You can also reach it through your Control Panel via Date and Time.

E_STREAM_ERROR

This message implies that there isn't enough bandwidth to download the files, kinda like congestion on the highway. Because of the size of the epubs, they take up more lanes and it's just not merging in.

If possible, you can take your laptop to your campus library or a cafe, or try again at a different hour. (In the evening, others may be streaming movies or videos, which take a up a lot of bandwidth.)

Adobe Reader cannot open ebook.

The ebook isn't a pdf, so Adobe Reader can't open it.

This messages often appears if you try to download the ebooks before installing Digital Editions.

If you haven't yet, install Adobe Digital Editions.

If you have downloaded Digital Editions and still receive this message, you can download the files manually.

RealTime Portal

If you puchrased an Access Card from your local bookstore, the username and password will be included on the left page.

If you bought you ebooks directly from the AMSEDU Bookstore, the username and password will be emailed to you in two business days.

If you have lost your username and password, you can request them by emailing material@ametsoc.org.

The ebooks in other formats.

The ebooks are availabe as webBooks or ePub Rentals for six months, non-expiring ePubs and print on demand books (except for the Ocean textbook). Each product page has several options and a link to the non-expiring ePub.

If you have a coupon from your local bookstore, it will also work for these products, though it only covers the webBook or the ePub rentals. If you select another option, you will be charged for the difference and, if applicable, for shipping.

If you have already purchased one of the rentals and want a different format (such as the print on demand), contact us at material@ametsoc.org. You will be charged for the difference and for shipping but not for the cost you already paid.

 

It has taken 10 days for the print on demand books to finish at the printer BEFORE they are shipped. Please take this into account when placing your order.
