Theme: Opportunities and Challenges for Atmospheric Science Education in a Changing Landscape
The 2018 AMS/AGU Joint Heads and Chairs Meeting will focus on several issues facing academic programs in the geosciences. All sessions are being planned so that attendees will be activity engaged in discussion about the challenges and opportunities faced in various programs. The goal is to allow individuals to develop relationships with other heads and chairs to meet the challenges each are facing. Additionally, through this interaction individuals might identify potentially areas of collaboration or issues where leadership is needed through AMS Board on Higher Education. Sessions will range over a variety of topics with a series of sessions will focus on the role of how we are evolving our educational practices to meet the needs of our students and their future careers with accountability. Other sessions focus on developing positive mentorship among all constituencies and a look into expanding disciplinary based education research within the field.
