The Visit Boulder is A DESTINATION FOR ECO-CONSCIOUS TRAVELERS

 

If traveling sustainably is important to you, then Boulder should most definitely be on your (100% recycled) must-visit list. When you come to Boulder, you’ll be traveling to a place that has been a leader in environmentalism for decades and continues to make green living a priority. Here are just a few ways the city has united to conserve land and resources.

Some other ways that Boulder, CO has opted for a greener lifestyle:

  • An International Climate Leader - Boulder County has been recognized?by CDP, a global environmental reporting organization, for its bold leadership on environmental action and transparency. Boulder County made the “Cities A-List,” earning the CDP's highest rating alongside 95 cities around the world. Only 9.8% of cities and counties that were scored in 2021 received an A.
  • Zero Waste Efforts Everywhere You Look - The city has a Universal Zero Waste Ordinance that requires properties in Boulder to have separated compost, recycling, and trash service.
  • Getting Hikers to Trails More Sustainably - Through pioneering partnerships and programs, five land-management agencies provide Boulder County residents and visitors with four hiker shuttles.
  • Car Chargers Galore - in offering more than 48 electric-vehicle charging stations all over Boulder.
  • Fervidly Reducing Carbon Emissions - with their Climate Action Plan

Venue Goals

 

The University of Colorado Boulder provides Sustainable Conferences, by:

  • Assure that catering events are zero waste (china or compostable)
  • Develop menus that feature local foods and plant-forward options to reduce your group's carbon and water footprint
  • Request bulk cream, sugar, honey, and other condiments for catered events
  • Discourage the use of bottled water and offer bulk water refilling at catered events
  • Manage catering orders to reduce food waste
  • Purchase reusable/recyclable giveaways through local vendors
  • Offer carbon offsets on all registration and housing websites
  • Use recycled content paper
  • Provide electronic contracts, client access to registration data and guest visitor information including sustainability pointers
  • Encourage groups to use mass transit and the local B-Cycle program
