Recommendations for Virtual Oral Presentations:
  1. Make figures and text larger than usual to accommodate smaller device screens
    1. Ensure font size is no less than 18-pt
  2. Use descriptive words/phrases throughout their presentation when referring to slide content, especially graphics
  3. Ensure either an audio transcription file or live transcriptions/closed-captioning are available during presentations
    1. Live sign language interpreters would be preferred over live transcription
  4. Upload a "Key Points" document along with presentations
  5. Ensure the colors within their presentation are accessible to color blind individuals (refer to  https://color.adobe.com/create/color-accessibility)
  6. Provide presentation and corresponding files to those who request them in advance
  7. Ensure presentations include high color contrast to account for screen glare
  8. Maximize audio quality by using a headset or microphone
  9. Include comprehensive slide-by-slide speaker/PowerPoint notes or a script with each presentation
  10. Include transcriptions/closed captioning with recorded presentation archive
  11. Minimize use of inaccessible live polling applications
  12. Ensure presentation attendees have multiple modes of asking questions (e.g virtual "hand raising" and either unmuting when called upon or posting a question in the chat feature)
  13. Verbally repeat questions they are asked
  14. Limit use of animated GIFs and videos to reduce lag/bandwidth issues
Recommendations for In-Person Oral Presentations:

  3. Be verbally interactive during poster viewing times instead of relying on viewers to look at your poster
Recommendations for In-Person Poster Presentations:
  1. Place the title at the top center of the poster.
  2. Use 72 point letters for title
  3. Avoid hand drawn materials.
  4. Keep it simple.
  5. Make sure it has a logical flow.
  6. Use color, graphics, charts, and photos.
  7. Minimum font size should be 24-size font but aim to use between 36-size and 48-size fonts
  8. Save some key points for the one-on-one discussion.
  9. Avoid the following color combinations: Green&Red; Green&Brown; Blue&Purple; Green&Blue; Light; Green&Yellow; Blue&Grey; Green&Grey; Green&Black
