Postponement of the 30th Conference on Severe Local Storms

Dear colleagues,
Thank you for your patience and understanding while AMS leadership closely monitors the situation related to the respiratory disease known as “the coronavirus disease 2019” or “COVID-19” and its effects on our meetings and events. Given the uncertainty surrounding international travel through this summer, travel restrictions that have been issued by many of our presenters’ and attendees’ employers and organizations, and after much deliberation and consultation with our host hotel in Santa Fe, we have made the decision to reschedule the 30th Conference on Severe Local Storms to 18–22 October 2021. The conference will still take place at the Eldorado Hotel & Spa in Santa Fe, NM.

For those who have already submitted abstracts to the conference: submitted abstracts will remain in the submission portal for review, and submitters will be given the opportunity to revise and edit abstracts once the portal re-opens in April 2021.

Submitters that cannot attend the rescheduled dates will receive a refund for their abstract fees and should withdraw their paper in Presenter’s Corner at your earliest convenience. An updated/supplementary Call for Papers will be available in late January with a revised abstract submission deadline of 17 June 2021. A final conference agenda will be available in early August of 2021. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the AMS Meetings department at should you have any questions.

Thank you to everyone who helped us formulate an alternative plan where we can still hold the 30th Conference on Severe Local Storms and we look forward to seeing many of you next October.
