Due to budget constraints, AMS will not have a Congressional Science Fellowship in 2019-2020. We hope funding will become available for a restart of the fellowship in the future.

AMS members are now eligible to apply for the American Institute of Physics Congressional and diplomacy fellowships.

The AMS Congressional Science Fellowship makes it possible for one scientist to spend a full year in the U.S. Congress working on science policy issues. The Fellow will also be a member of the AAAS Science and Technology Fellows program, which includes over 30 Congressional fellows from other professional societies and roughly 200 executive branch fellows. The fellowship term is from September 1 to August 31. Read More
- Eligibility
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in the atmospheric or related sciences, be a member of AMS (or applying), be a U.S. citizen, and be comfortable working with people from a diverse professional backgrounds and under demanding deadlines. Under exceptional circumstances, applicants without a Ph.D. but with equivalent education and experience may be considered. Federal employees are not eligible. Read More
