We encourage active participation on social media platforms during our conference events, encompassing various settings such as keynote addresses, workshops, breakout sessions, and social gatherings. To ensure a positive and respectful online environment, please keep our Professional Conduct at AMS Meetings in mind at all times and also adhere to the following guidelines:

1. Utilize Official Hashtags: When posting about the conference, use the designated official hashtags to enhance visibility and streamline discussions. 

2. Respectful Interaction: Treat all conference participants, speakers, organizers, and fellow attendees with respect and consideration. Embrace diverse perspectives and opinions, fostering an inclusive online atmosphere.

3. Collaborative Communication: Engage in open and collaborative communication. Provide constructive feedback and critique ideas rather than individuals, promoting a conducive environment for dialogue.

4. Avoid Personal Attacks: Refrain from making personal attacks or engaging in offensive behavior towards other conference participants, speakers, organizers, and any associated staff. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all interactions.

5. Give Credit to Presenters: Identify and credit presenters by mentioning their names when sharing insights, photographs of presenters, their slides or posters, or takeaways from their presentations. This not only acknowledges their contribution but also facilitates networking and professional connections.
 

Photography Best Practices and Guidelines

Photography by individuals for personal use and for social media, as well as for press coverage, is subject to the following guidelines throughout all meeting spaces, including presentations and poster sessions:  

1. Honor the preference of any presenter who has included the “do not share” icon on their slides or poster.

2. Be considerate of others when taking photographs. Avoid using flash in settings where it may be disruptive, and refrain from blocking the view of fellow attendees during presentations.

• Respect the atmosphere of the event and refrain from any actions that may disrupt or distract presenters and other attendees.
• Identify a presenter by name when sharing a photograph of the presenter, presenter’s slides, or poster.
• Do not capture or share photographs of individuals under the age of 18 on social media platforms without explicit verbal or written consent from a parent or guardian. When in doubt, ask.

3. Members of the press should note that much of the science shared during AMS meetings is in progress and/or not yet peer-reviewed; it is always wise to ask permission before sharing images involving research.
