AMS is committed to ensuring that our meetings and events allow our attendees and presenters to share their science and connect with one another, however we can. While planning many virtual and hybrid meetings since March 2020, we realized that offering virtual meeting options made conferences like ours available to attendees who would never have the opportunity to participate otherwise. Without accessibility barriers like travel costs and time away from work and family, etc., our conferences have a greater reach — enriching everyone’s experience. The AMS community also benefits from the resiliency and flexibility of hybrid meetings. Regardless of changes or emergencies — large or small — we’ll be able to share our science and connect with one another. Finally, as a professional organization whose members are keenly aware of environmental issues, AMS strives to be  at the forefront of environmental stewardship. By reducing the need for travel for those who choose to participate virtually,  we can limit our impact on the environment.

All registered attendees (hybrid and virtual) will have access to the same content and be able to interact with each other - and with all presenters - at the same time. Please note that if you select virtual-only attendance during registration, you will NOT be admitted to any programs or sessions taking place onsite. To access any portion of the in-person meeting, you will need to switch your registration to hybrid attendance, and pay the remaining balance in full. 

Additionally, you will see that the terminology for our attendance methods has shifted. Previous meetings have had “in-person” and “virtual” attendance options. Starting this year, virtual attendees have online access ONLY, while “in person” attendance will be referred to as “hybrid” attendance to encourage attendees that join us onsite to also take advantage of the content virtually. If you can’t attend every session you’d like to in person, you can tune in to the meeting online so that you don’t miss out!

Change in Plans?

Attendees can change their attendance participation type to/from hybrid and virtual.
