K-12 Teachers

Enhance your knowledge of Earth system science through AMS Education’s teacher professional development programs.

DataStreme Program

Since 1993, over 23,000 educators have participated in our professional development program targeted at K-12 teachers. Currently, the program is being redesigned as a free, go-at-your-own-pace, online program available to everyone. Courses on meteorology, oceanography, and climate science (with a focus on paleoclimate) are in development. Our Project Atmosphere, Project Ocean, and Project Ice summer courses are being integrated into DataStreme. Visit the link above for more details and a timeline for launching the new program.

Educator Curricula and Resources

As part of our DataStreme program, the AMS Education team developed a set of free-to-use modules to help educators teach about weather, ocean, and climate. These modules include background content, activities, and answer keys on a variety of topics commonly addressed in K-12 earth and environmental science courses. These are designed for upper-level elementary school classrooms, but can be adapted for use in earlier grades.
