97th AMS Annual Meeting | 22–26 January 2017 | Seattle, WA

Student Travel Grants

Applications Due: 14 October 2016

Travel grants are available to current senior undergraduate or graduate students interested in attending an AMS Annual Meeting. AMS recognizes the considerable benefit that students can gain from attending both student and professional sessions and events, even if they are not presenting a paper there. Interactions between students and other conference attendees are encouraged by AMS. To this end, travel grants will be awarded to students who are not presenting a paper at the professional conference (presenting a paper at the student conference does not fall under this rule).

The travel grants are available only to AMS student members and members with student privileges. For current members, your 2017 membership dues should be paid  prior to applying.  If you are not a member and would like to apply, you must submit an online membership application and pay for the full year of 2017.

Potential candidates must not be presenting a paper at a professional meeting. A student can receive no more than one travel grant award per calendar year, and may not apply for more than two meetings per calendar year, and not more than one conference per meeting (with the annual meeting counting as a single meeting), i.e., a student applies for travel grant to the annual meeting and receives an award, that student is not eligible to apply for another conference within the calendar year.

The grant will cover round-trip air travel (within North America) to the meeting, hotel room/tax and conference registration fee (excluding short courses).  The recipient of a grant will be responsible for meals and any extra charges on the hotel bill.  Students will share a room with one or two other awardees at the discretion of AMS.

Application Process and Deadline Information

Students must complete the online application form to participate.  To access the online application, you must have an online profile consisting of your membership email address and a password.  Be sure to fill in all areas of the form and include a valid email address.  Applications will not process after the deadline date.

Notification

All applicants will be notified of their standing by email.  Please give at least two to three weeks after the deadline date to receive notice of your standing.  If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact Donna Fernandez at (617) 226-3907 or e?mail [email protected].
