AMS is seeking Editor-in-Chief applications and nominations

The American Meteorological Society is excited to announce the launch of a new journal for short-form articles. To be launched early in 2027, this journal will publish high-quality, concise, self-contained technical papers; it will leverage the brand of the American Meteorological Society and the reputation of AMS publications for rigorous peer review. It will be broad in scope, covering all AMS topical areas, including some that fall in gaps within our current suite of technical journals.

The AMS Publications Commission seeks applications and nominations for a committed and well respected member of the weather/water/climate community to serve as the inaugural editor in chief (EiC) of this new journal. This is an exciting volunteer opportunity to make a lasting impact on the Society and its publications. The EiC will have the broad scope to set the future direction of the journal by recruiting its initial editorial board and, with them, establish its editorial practices and standards.

Candidates for this role will be evaluated based on their scientific breadth, editorial experience, and engagement with the weather/water/climate community.

To submit an application or nomination to be the first EiC of AMS’s newest journal please complete the form below.

Thank you for your application/nomination!
