Authors may need to change their names on already-published articles for a variety of reasons, including gender identity, relationship status, or religious practice. Name changes can be made by contacting Gwendolyn Whittaker, Director of Publications ([email protected]). 

How are such name changes handled in AMS’s peer reviewed publications? 

• AMS production staff will update and republish the paper, and redeliver the updated metadata to indexing services
• AMS does not require authors to provide documentation of name changes
• AMS does not require that any correction notice be published for the updated paper for name changes
• AMS does not routinely notify co-authors about name changes, but would do so at an author’s request
