Hurricane Pioneer: Memoirs of Bob Simpson by Robert H. Simpson, with Neal Dorst

The Board for Early Career Professionals will be awarding a new commission level award to recognize the significant achievements of early career professionals within their community, society, scientific discipline, and profession. Please nominate a deserving early career professional for the Award for Early Career Achievement. The nomination deadline is 1 June.
The 96th AMS Annual Meeting theme is “Earth System Science in Service to Society.” We invite you to view the call for papers for information on more than 30 conferences and symposia that will be held in New Orleans. The following AMS Programs have been posted and registration is now open: 20th Conference on Atmospheric and Oceanic Fluid Dynamics 43rd Conference on Broadcast Meteorology Third Conference on Weather Warnings and Communication
Two short courses will be held in association with the 43rd Conference on Broadcast Meteorology (Raleigh, North Carolina, 10–12 June 2015): “Weather and Climate in Times of Change” and “GOES-R Preview for Broadcasters”. Both courses will take place on Tuesday 9 June at the Raleigh Convention Center.
11th Symposium on Fire and Forest Meteorology (5–7 May 2015, Minneapolis, Minnesota) will include a field trip to Carleton College. The tour is limited to 25 people, so book your ticket as soon as possible.
Travel grants to 2015 AMS specialty conferences are available for senior undergraduate and graduate students who are student members of the AMS. (Undergraduates must be in their senior year of study at the time of application.) The Bulletin of the AMS (BAMS) is looking for volunteers to review books for its “Readings” section. The books we review cover a wide variety of topics of interest to the weather, water, and climate community. If you’re interested, please contact Sangjun Lee ([email protected]) with your fields of expertise/interest to see which books are currently available for review. If you missed the “Women in Weather” Google Hangout on 25 March, it isn’t too late to watch! You can view the Hangout in its entirety online.
