Mahshid Ahmadian

Mahshid Ahmadian is a statistician and data scientist whose work sits at the intersection of Bayesian modeling, environmental statistics, and science policy. She recently earned her Ph.D. in Statistics and Data Science from the Department of Statistical Sciences and Operations Research at Virginia Commonwealth University, where her dissertation developed Bayesian frameworks for spatiotemporal animal movement data. During her Master's studies, she developed mixed-effects models for longitudinal clinical outcomes, and she has worked as a data scientist and as a statistical consultant across ecology, medicine, public health, and finance.

Mahshid is currently the VASG–AMS Policy Fellow with Virginia Sea Grant and the American Meteorological Society Policy Program in Washington, DC. She is passionate about bridging rigorous quantitative methods and the practical realities of policy, and about making research more accessible, reproducible, and useful across disciplines.
