Minutes of the March 18, 2002 Meeting
Smoky Mountain AMS Chapter

The Smoky Mountain Chapter met at the Agricultural Engineering Building of the University of Tennessee - Knoxville. Dr. T. J. Blasing of the Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center at Oak Ridge National Laboratory presented a talk entitled "Global Warming: Hot Air and Cold Facts."

One of our members, Dr. Wayne Davis of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville, has received the highest award that The University can give to one of it's own faculty members, the Macebearer Award. Among other things, this means that Dr. Davis will lead the procession for this year's graduation ceremony.

Finally, the Smoky Mountain Chapter award for the best meteorological exhibit at the Southern Appalachian Science and Engineering Fair went to Ms. Alexandra Meehan, of Knoxville, TN. The award includes a plaque and a $100-dollar savings bond.
