Jeremy Usher is Earth Networks' Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He oversees all related product localization, marketing, and business development initiatives. In 2007 Mr. Usher joined AWS Convergence Technologies, the company that would become Earth Networks, as managing director for Europe. Previously, at Weathernews, Inc., he served in various capacities, including his most recent post as Chief Executive Officer of Weathernews America. His appointment to the Weathernews board of directors gave him the personal distinction of being the youngest foreigner at that time to sit on the board of a Tokyo Stock Exchange-traded company. Earlier, he held a broad range of senior management positions in marketing and technology at several global environmental and mobile telecommunication firms, where his assignments included positions in Asia, the United States and Europe. Mr. Usher's tenure in the environmental and telecommunication fields has yielded several significant contributions to society and commerce. In a partnership with Yahoo! in the mid-1990s, he led the development and deployment of the first site-specific global forecasting system that brought more than 50,000 forecast locations to web consumers worldwide, prompting a fundamental shift in the availability of weather content. He also managed the development of the Voyage Planning System, an integrated weather and marine navigation platform routing more than 50 percent of the world's transoceanic cargo vessels. Mr. Usher served on the board of directors of the Commercial Weather Services Association and as a member of the Board of Visitors for the College of Geosciences (now the College of Atmospheric & Geographic Sciences) at the University of Oklahoma. Mr. Usher has a BS degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University and an MBA degree from Duke University.
