Scott Sternberg, an AMS Member, is President of Vaisala, Inc. in Louisville, Colorado. Vaisala, Inc. is the United States subsidiary of Vaisala, Oyj, a Finnish company. In his present position since since 2009, he is responsible for the regional governance of Vaisala's U.S.-based operations, which represents approximately one third of Vaisala's annual turnover. From 2007 to 2009 Mr. Sternberg was Executive Vice President of Service at Vaisala headquarters in Finland, where he was responsible for the consolidation of Vaisala's global customer service functions. He joined Vaisala in 2004 as a Strategic Business Unit Manager for Vaisala's Thunderstorm Data unit based in Tucson, Arizona, where he managed the data products generated from the National Lightning Detection Network. Mr. Sternberg has a wealth of knowledge and experience in marketing and management, as well as a strong background in science-based product development. His previous work in the rapidly growing digital imaging sector is a perfect complement to Vaisala's innovative environment and entrepreneurial culture. Prior to joining Vaisala, Mr. Sternberg held a number of positions ranging from product management to business development for Roper Industries-Photometrics. Mr. Sternberg's training in optical sciences was the perfect background for the application of high-resolution imaging technologies to such disciplines as biology, spectroscopy, and astronomy. The ever changing dynamics of a growing technology company provided a well rounded business experience spanning twelve years. Mr. Sternberg has BS and MS degrees in physics from the State University of New York at Cortland and Colorado State University, respectively.
