Rick Ohlemacher, an AMS Member, is Director of the Energy and Environment Initiative at Northrop Grumman Information Systems in McLean, Virginia. Mr Ohlemacher works on strategic deployment of energy, environmental, and decision support systems. Employed by Northrop Grumman since 2004, he has spent his career working to advance integration of technology solutions and applications for monitoring and understanding the Earth and its natural systems. He previously worked in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's office of the Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere (2000–2004) and supported the NOAA Assistant Administrator for Satellites on international agreements (2000–2002). Mr. Ohlemacher also served as the Science and Technology Officer on an internship at the United States Embassy in South Africa, and as an Environmental Extension Agent with the United States Peace Corps in Senegal, West Africa (1993–1995). Mr. Ohlemacher received the Department of Commerce Gold Medal for Leadership and was selected as a Presidential Management Fellow for the federal government. He has a Master of International Affairs degree from Columbia University (2000) and BA degree in environmental studies and planning from California State University at Sonoma (1992).
