Global Weather Corporation, headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, uses proprietary technology to produce real-time precision weather forecasts for businesses to improve decision-making, increase operational efficiency, and serve their customers. GWC forecasts are tuned on-demand to specific worldwide locations or geography and delivered via scalable, transaction-based web services. GWC's objective is to offer improved accuracy at exact locations with better timeliness than anyone else. Accomplishing this objective is made possible by commercializing core weather forecasting technologies developed at the National Center for Atmospheric Research. NCAR is a federally funded research and development center that is funded primarily through a grant from the National Science Foundation. NCAR is operated by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, a consortium of universities. Commercialization of NCAR intellectual property and technology is accomplished through the UCAR Foundation, a non-profit organization chartered by UCAR. In 2003, the UCAR Foundation formed a startup incubation company Peak Weather Resources that has spun off two companies, Advanced Radar Corporation (2007) and Global Weather Corporation (2009). Both companies are privately held and are partially owned by the UCAR Foundation.
