The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences is a joint institute of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the University of Colorado at Boulder. With six major divisions and five research centers on the CU-Boulder campus, CIRES explores all aspects of the earth system and searches for ways to better understand how natural and human-made disturbances impact our dynamic planet. A focus on innovation and collaboration has made CIRES a world leader in interdisciplinary research and teaching, with a commitment to communicate research in ways that help inform decision-makers and the public about how to best ensure a sustainable future environment.
