The Father James B. Macelwane Annual Award in Meteorology
The Father James B. Macelwane Annual Award was established by the American Meteorological Society to honor the late Rev. James B. Macelwane, S.J., a world‑renowned authority of seismology, who was a geophysicist and Dean of the Institute of Technology, Saint Louis University, until his death in 1956. The recipient of the Father James B. Macelwane award will receive a stipend of $1000 supported by member donations to the AMS 21st Century Campaign. Deadline has passed
Student Travel Grants
Travel grants are available for senior undergraduate and graduate students to attend AMS meetings held in the U.S. or Canada. AMS recognizes the considerable benefit that students can gain from attending conferences even if they are not presenting a paper there. AMS wants to encourage interactions between students and other conference attendees. To this end, travel grants will be awarded to a student who is not presenting a paper at the conference. AMS Scholarships and Fellowships
The American Meteorological Society administers an array of graduate fellowships and undergraduate scholarships with the support of its members, corporations, and government agencies nationwide. The fellowships and scholarships help further the education of outstanding graduate and undergraduate students pursuing a career in the atmospheric and related oceanic or hydrologic sciences. Annual Meeting Student Assistant Program
Open to AMS undergraduate student members only
The Student Assistant Program provides partial travel support to students willing to assist AMS staff in administering the annual meeting. Student assistants help with various tasks, including meeting registration, book/retail exhibit, committee meetings, and audio visual requirements. Students must secure their own travel arrangements to and from the annual meeting site. AMS will not cover travel cost. Deadline has passed.
