The 42nd Conference on Broadcast Meteorology is organized the AMS Board on Broadcast Meteorology and sponsored by the American Meteorological Society. The conference will be held at the Resort at Squaw Creek, Olympic Valley, California, 17-20 June, 2014.

Accommodations

All meeting sessions for the conferences will be held at the Resort at Squaw Creek, Olympic 400 Squaw Creek Road, PO Box 3333, Valley, California, 96146. A block of rooms, including wireless internet access has been reserved at the hotel for meeting attendees at a special rate of:

Per diem rates are available for those who qualify, but the rate is limited to 30% of the room block. Room rates quoted above are subject to tax, which is currently 10% and subject to the California Tourism Assessment Fee of .065%. Rates will be available 3 days prior and 3 days after the event dates indicated in the room block, subject to availability of guest rooms at the time of reservation.

Resort Fee
In addition to the rates set forth above, there will be a daily resort fee of $18.00 per room, per night, which is subject to a 10% tax, includes:

Reservations must be made prior to Monday, 12 May 2014 and will require a deposit equal to the room rate and tax for the first night for each reservation. The deposit is refundable only if the Resort receives notice of cancellation at least 7 days prior to scheduled arrival. Reservations made after that date are on a space available basis. We urge you to make reservations early since space is limited.

All attendees must register to attend the conference.  Registration may be completed online, via fax-in form, or on-site.  Links are available in the left-hand panel of this page. 

  1. On-line Registration: This option is available to AMS Members and nonmembers who are paying by credit card or purchase order. You can register on-line through the conference. Be sure to register by 19 May, 2014 for the lowest rates.
  2. Download the registration form from the conference website. Return the completed registration form by fax (617) 249-0272 or mail to: 42Broadcast Registration, 45 Beacon St., Boston, MA 02108.
  3. On-site registration: The AMS registration desk at the Resort at Squaw Creek will be open for registration on Tuesday, 17 June from 11:30am-6pm, and Wednesday-Friday during the hours of the conference.

FULL-WEEK PACKAGE
The full-week package includes admission to all sessions, exhibits, coffee breaks, ice breaker reception, and one ticket to Thursday's Dinner Banquet.

ONE-DAY PACKAGE
The one-day package includes for one calendar day admission to all sessions, exhibits, and coffee breaks for one day. The Thursday's Dinner Banquet ticket is NOT included.

Exhibit Dismantle

(Exhibit booths must be dismantled by 4:00 p.m., Friday, 20 June 2014. Exhibits may not be dismantled nor may the exhibitor do any packing before the closing of the exhibit hall at 12noon, Friday, 20 June 2014. Exhibitors dismantling/leaving early will be assessed a $500 penalty fee.)

An Opening Reception is being sponsored by the Exhibitors. It will be held on Wednesday evening, 18 June, 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Exhibit Hall (Grand Sierra Ballroom).

Suitcasing
Exhibitors at the 42nd Conference on Broadcast Meteorology have invested and committed their support to this industry. They have planned for several months or more to bring the Attendees the experience they seek and deserve.

Suitcasing Policy: Only contracted Exhibitors are permitted to promote their products, services or company at the Meeting. All company promotion and product sampling must occur within a contracted booth space. This includes, but is not limited to handing out flyers, approaching Exhibitor booths to sell products, and leaving and/or distributing product information in public spaces and show floor aisles. Exhibitors found doing so will be sent back to their booth space and materials left will be confiscated and disposed of properly. Attendees will be asked to leave the show and forfeit their badge. Additional penalties may apply. Any “suit-casers” observed by both attendees and exhibitors should be reported to the Show Management immediately.

Special Panel Discussion

A Year In Review + A Forecast For the Future
Wednesday, 18 June 12:00–1:30 p.m.
Climate Central will be hosting a special panel discussion and lunch in the Alpine Ballroom at the Resort at Squaw Creek.  A panel of meteorologists and climate scientists will take you through the weather and climate change connection. The panel features Bob Henson with UCAR, Kelly Redmond with the Desert Research Institute, Todd Sanford with Climate Central, and Bernadette Woods Placky with Climate Central.

Conference Banquet     

Thursday, 19 June 6:00–9:00 p.m.
A ticket is needed to attend the Thursday Banquet. One ticket to the 42nd Conference on Broadcast Meteorology Banquet is included in the full-week registration package. The Banquet will take place in the Sun & Spa Deck at the Resort at Squaw Creek. Guest and/or additional tickets ($50 each) may be purchased onsite until noon Wednesday 18 June.

Airport transportation can be provided by the North Tahoe Express. The AMS special rate is $80.00 round trip transfer between The Resort at Squaw Creek and Reno/ Tahoe International Airport. This shuttle service is based on reservation ONLY. Reservations are required 24 hours in advance for the shuttle to travel at the scheduled times and they also have a 24-hour cancellation policy to avoid charge.
