AMS Short Course on Wind Energy Applications, Supported by
Atmospheric Boundary Layer Theory, Observations and Modeling
Sun. 1 August 2010, Keystone, CO

This short course will provide an introduction to the wind energy applications of boundary layer and turbulence theory, observations and modeling. The intended audience for the course includes graduate students and postdocs in atmospheric sciences and engineering, as well as scientists and engineers from academia and industry who seek to expand their knowledge of the atmospheric boundary layers processes relevant for the wind energy applications. Lectures will summarize the state of the boundary layer science, address current issues in the nexus of atmospheric science and wind energy, and outline future research directions. Ample opportunities for discussion will be integrated into the short course format. more information

All meeting sessions for the conferences will be held at the Keystone Conference Center, 633 Tennis Club Rd, Keystone, Colorado, 80435. To receive these special rates, attendees must request a room under the American Meteorological Society (code CM0AMS) room block.

Reservations must be made prior to June 30, 2010 and be accompanied by a one-night deposit. Reservations made after that date are on a space available basis. Subject to room availability, these special rates will be available the weekends before and after the conference. We urge you to make reservations early since space is limited. Each attendee will receive one Adventure Passport from the hotel, offering complimentary and discounted access to a variety of activities in the area.

High-speed Wi-Fi is available for $9.95 per day. It will not be provided by AMS. Free 9 holes of golf after 4pm on day of arrival only. Based on availability, as tee times cannot be reserved prior to arrival. Not available for cash or transferrable to another day. Valid at both the River and Ranch golf courses. Club rental is $25.00 for 9 holes.

On-site Registration
The AMS registration desk will be open for registration on Sunday, 1 August, 2010 5:00–7:00 P.M., and Monday through Friday during the hours of the conference.

Registration Rates

FULL-WEEK PACKAGE includes: all conference materials, admission to all conferences, a Monday Evening Formal Poster Viewing reception, coffee breaks and one ticket to the Barn Dance BBQ on Thursday evening.
ONE-DAY PACKAGE includes: Registration includes all conference materials, admission to all conferences and coffee breaks for one calendar day. The Barn Dance BBQ is not included.

REGISTRATION WILL NOT BE PROCESSED WITHOUT PAYMENT.
Payment may be made with check, money order, purchase order, or credit card (MasterCard/ VISA/American Express). Checks must be drawn on a U.S. bank and payable in U.S. dollars. Refunds (less a $25 processing fee) will be granted only for cancellations received before Monday July 26, 2010.

Formal Poster Viewing with Cash Bar
A Formal Poster Viewing Reception has been scheduled for Monday evening from 6- 7:30pm in the Castle Peak Ballroom. Light appetizers and a cash bar will be provided.

Thursday Night BBQ
Nothing but all-American fun at the Keystone Stables! Thursday evening includes an authentic Barn Dance and BBQ at the Keystone Lodge Stables. Upon arrival at the Stables, there is live Country Western entertainment, horseshoes, “steer roping,” and a great barbecue dinner. Complimentary shuttles available to the Stables. One adult ticket is included with your full-week registration package Additional Adult tickets are $60 and Child tickets (ages 4-12, 3 and under is free) are $40.
