The 14th Conference on Atmospheric Radiation and Anthony Slingo Symposium are sponsored by the American Meteorological Society and organized by the AMS Committee on Atmospheric Radiation.  The 14th Conference on Cloud Physics is also sponsored by the American Meteorological Society and is organized by the AMS committee on Cloud Physics. The conferences will be held jointly 7-11 July, 2014 at the Westin Copley Place in Boston, MA.

Attendees are responsible for making their own hotel arrangements. All meeting sessions for the conferences will be held at The Westin Copley Place in Boston, MA.

While the original block of rooms reserved at the hotel for meeting attendees is now FULL, please note that an additional block of UPGRADED rooms has been reserved at a rate of $239 single/double plus tax per night.

To receive the special meeting rate, attendees must request a room under the AMS block by using the Group Affiliation: Atmospheric Radiation and Cloud Physics Joint Meeting. Please note that space at the hotel is limited and selling quickly. Please do make your hotel reservation as soon as possible.

All attendees must register to attend the conference. Registration may be completed online, via fax-in form, or on-site. Pre-registration (discounted) will be available until 2 June.




The full-week package includes admission to all conferences, coffee breaks, poster receptions, and boxed lunch on Tuesday.

In lieu of a banquet, conference organizers have chosen to instead organize the following food and beverage events:

Coffee Breaks:  Each day (before sessions, mid morning, and mid afternoon)
Poster Viewings:  Monday and Wednesday evenings with light snacks and cash bars
Boxed Lunch: Tuesday
Cash and Carry Lunch: Thursday
Vegetarian options will be available at all food events.  Those with other special diet needs (Kosher, Vegan, or Gluten Free) should indicate these needs during conference registration.

Posters will be located in the Staffordshire Room, the St. George Room, and the Third Floor Foyer of the Westin Copley. There will be two distinct poster viewings, Monday from 5:30-8:00pm and Wednesday from 6:00-8:00pm. Light snacks and  cash bar will be available during the poster viewings.

Students interested in volunteering to work during the conference (half day each day of the conference running the session room AV and helping at registration) will receive a stipend of $25/day and complimentary meeting registration.  Interested students should contact Jen Ives at


Flying to Boston
Logan International Airport is approx. 5 miles and a 15-minute drive from the Westin Copley Place.

Ground Transportation
Taxi service costs approx. $25-$30
The MBTA or “T” costs $2 from the airport:

  • Take the shuttle bus from the terminal’s ground transportation to the Blue Line’s Airport Stop
  • Take the Blue Line to Government Center Center
  • Take the Green Line to Copley Station

The Westin Copley Place is within walking distance to many restaurants, shops, and areas of interest. The MBTA, or “T” is also located adjacent to the hotel, linking you to all points downtown.
Overnight valet parking is available to hotel guests for $46 per day.
