A message to all AMS volunteers from Executive Director Stella Kafka
I want to express my deepest gratitude for all the time, energy, and hard work you have put into our organization. Your contributions have impacted the AMS significantly, and we are truly grateful for your dedication.
Your willingness to donate your time and expertise has allowed us to serve our community better and further the AMS’s mission “to advance the atmospheric and related sciences, technologies, applications, and services for the benefit of society.” From planning meetings, running AMS programs, reaching out to our diverse community with information and opportunities for engagement, to providing support and services, you have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to making a difference. Without your efforts, we would not have been able to achieve the success we have had so far, and we look forward to continuing to work with you in the future.

Publications Update
New for our UK authors and subscribing institutions: AMS Publications is piloting Read-and-Publish agreements with UK Higher Education, Research Councils, and Affiliates. Under these two-year agreements, one annual fee covers an institution’s full read access to all AMS publications and all publishing charges for the institution’s authors who publish in any AMS journal, including all the technical journals and BAMS. Participating institutions are
listed here. Information for institutions interested in participating is available from the
JISC license subscription manager catalog.

New Policy Study: Global Environmental Change and Workforce Need
The weather, water, and climate community will be essential in navigating the various physical and societal transformations that global environmental change will bring. This American Meteorological Society (AMS) Policy Program study examines the developing “climate workforce” as a key component of society’s response to global environmental change and adds to the foundational understanding that the WWC enterprise needs to meet future workforce challenges in Earth system observations and science.
Summer Policy Colloquium
This career-shaping experience is an intensive immersion in policy for Earth and environmental system scientists and professionals from academia, government, and the private sector. Paying attendees must register before 14 April.
Colloquium participants meet with congressional staff, members of congress, leading officials from the executive branch, and prominent policy experts. Legislative exercises and policy simulations provide additional windows into the interplay of policy, politics, and procedure in the United States Federal policy process. The $5,600 registration fee includes all sessions, workshops, tours/briefings, and materials, but NOT room and board or travel.
