Textbook - Weather Studies: Introduction to Atmospheric Science

The full-color, 15 chapter Weather Studies: Introduction to Atmospheric Science covers the basic understandings of meteorology. Each chapter ends with ten Review and ten Critical Thinking Questions as well as essays For Further Exploration and Web Resources. The textbook can be used independently or part of as the AMS Weather Studies course, which includes the Investigations Manual and RealTime Weather Portal.

Weather Studies Investigations Manual

Each investigation leads the student through an analysis of real-world meteorological data from an Introduction of the topic followed by an active Applications section. If partnered with the textbook, two investigations coordinate with the topic of each chapter. Answer forms and keys can be loaded to your learning management system prior to the term.

RealTime Weather Portal

The student website delivers Current Weather Studies weekly during the semester and also hosts the Math Skills and Diversity activities as well as current weather maps - visible, infrared and water vapor satellite imagery, composite radar displays, and surface and upper-air data - plus forecast maps for the U.S. and southern Canada. Meteorological data, formatted and delivered via NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) are updated hourly, 24 hours a day, and seven days a week, year-round.

Student access to the RealTime Weather Portal is included with the Weather Studies Investigations Manual.

Weather Faculty Resource Materials and Website

Delivered via faculty website, the Faculty Resource Material includes answer forms and answer keys that is available both in Word and PDF, or in Respondus files compatible with learning management systems. PowerPoint presentations and the textbook figures are also posted on the faculty website.
