NASA GLOBE Program

This short course will allow participants to both become aware of the NASA GLOBE program, as well as learn how the NASA GLOBE Program can be used in UG/G education as well as in outreach around school-based and community public engagement.

Course Description:

The focus of this short course will be on ways that participants can bring the wealth of data from the NASA GLOBE Program (over 250 million data points from 127 countries around the globe) into play in their work

The NASA GLOBE program offers the opportunity to bring in situ data collection and analysis into formal education settings as well as into community-based work. These opportunities will be shared and developed during the short course.

Participants will:

  • Be introduced to The GLOBE Program, you will be trained in the GLOBE Clouds, Air Temperature, and Surface Temperature protocols.

  • Investigate NASA’s Earth Science Big Questions, an overview of current ES missions and how they are connected with the NASA GLOBE Program.

  • Focus on the current NASA missions studying atmosphere, investigate NASA resources and GLOBE protocols and activities related to atmosphere.

  • Investigate NASA GLOBE outreach resources, access NASA GLOBE data and investigate the opportunities to integrate these data into their current work.

  • At the end of this short course, participants will be certified as a GLOBE educators, and will be able to engage their students in learning science through the NASA GLOBE Program.
