Spring is a dangerous time along our rivers and water bodies. Floods are one of the most common, and costly, natural hazards. Annual flood damages in the United States average over $6 billion per year. This briefing will explore:

• advances in flood mapping
• mitigation and recovery options
• on-the-ground examples of successful flood management, intervention, and recovery by inter-agency teams
