The Local Student Chapter of the Year Award is presented to recognize chapters for their efforts to support chapter membership and its growth, their community through educational outreach and service, and the national Society through volunteerism and other activities. The award consists of a banner for the chapter and a certificate for each serving officer.
The Local Chapter Affairs Committee will review the nominations and make award recommendations for final approval by Council. A chapter may not win the Local Student Chapter of the Year Award more than two years in a row. After receiving the award two years in a row, there will be a one-year hiatus before that chapter will be eligible to apply for the award again.
A chapter is responsible for nominating itself for activities conducted during the 12-month period from 1 May through 30 April of the year the nomination is submitted. Nominations for the award must be completed by an officer or member of the local chapter seeking the award. To be considered for the award, the president/chair must be a member of the national Society, and the chapter must have reported election results during the period.
Please be sure to include any new activities and improvements that your chapter has undertaken over the past year as well as Annual Meeting activities. The distinction between core and new initiatives should be clear to the selection committee. Use of bullet points is highly recommended. A guidance document on what your chapter should consider when completing the award is available online. All chapters, regardless of membership size and availability of external resources, are encouraged to compete, as efforts will be made to balance these considerations with the scope of the chapter’s accomplishments
Nominations are due by 1 May. The nominator is responsible for uploading the entire nomination package.
