It has grown to over 2800 members, 50 corporate members and over 250 subscribers including many colleges, universities and weather service agencies. International members and subscribers number over 50.
Join the National Weather Association ***NWA Application Form for Individuals***
To join the NWA print out the application form and send it to the NWA office or request an application from the NWA office at:
National Weather Association
You can also join by simply sending into the NWA office, a short letter of request with your full name and mailing address, and other information that is helpful to the NWA, such as: name of employment organization or name of school attending, phone numbers for home, office and FAX, and e-mail address. A check or money order in US funds is also required to cover the annual dues. For new members, the first year dues are $42 ($21 for full-time students). Other dues options can be found on the individual application form. Prospective members who do not have an address in the United States will be charged extra fees to help defray the increased postage costs to international locations. Please call or write to the NWA office for the current international postage fees.
Individual membership in the NWA is on a calendar year (Jan-Dec) basis. Annual renewal invoices are mailed out in November of each year and expected to be paid by January.
As an individual member you would receive the National Weather Digest quarterly, a monthly Newsletter, discounts on buying NWA publications, discounted registration fees for the NWA Annual Meeting and more.
The NWA supports and promotes excellence in operational meteorology and related activities. It has an annual awards program, scholarships, and offers the NWA Seal of Approval to be earned by Radio/TV Weathercasters to promote standards and quality broadcasting. The NWA also provides Grants to teachers to help improve the education of meteorology for children in grades K-12.
The NWA provides opportunities for operational meteorologists, hydrologists, broadcasters, individuals in related operational activities, researchers, students and weather enthusiasts to share studies, techniques, news and more through the monthly newsletter, the quarterly National Weather Digest and in presentations and workshops at the Annual Meeting. The Annual Meeting is normally held in mid-October. See the Meetings Page for more information.
