Welcome to the website of the North Florida Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (AMS). We are a local chapter of the national AMS designed to serve the local Tallahassee community and the professional meteorological community in North Florida, South Georgia, and Southeast Alabama through outreach and social programs. It is our goal to promote and improve the visibility of meteorology and the atmospheric and related sciences within current and future generations.

AMS Local Chapter of the Year

 AMS Chapter Honor Roll

The 2008-2009 year marks the chapter's 7th year of existence. In our first six years, our programs have been recognized by the national AMS in receiving mention on the Local Chapter Honor Roll in 2003-2004 and 2006-2007; and their ultimate honor, Local Chapter of the Year in 2004-2005 and most recently in 2007-2008.

We work closely with local area schools, community outreach organizations, the Florida State University Department of Meteorology, the Tallahassee Weather Forecast Office of the National Weather Service, educational/outreach organizations, and local television stations to promote meteorology within the community.
