DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
June Newsletter.---Andrea Bleistein and Samantha Segall.
June 24th, 2010
Hello everyone! I hope everyone is having a great summer so far. I just wanted to send a quick e-mail out to everyone to let them know what has been going on and our plans for the fall when everyone returns.
Meteorology Mentoring Program
We are going to start a mentoring program to help anyone that would like help with scheduling classes, and help with work. We don't want anyone falling behind. If you would like to be a mentor or would like to be mentored e-mail me and let me know. We are going to set up the program in the late fall or early beginning of the year. So if I have an idea of who wants to help that would be great.
Welcome Weekend Involvement fair
We want to try and bring in a lot of people to our chapter this year with incoming freshman. If you are willing to talk to people and tell them about the program and would like to help out let me know. We want the chapter to continue to grow. It grew quite a bit last year, lets keep it going.
We are looking at having people talk about what they have done this summer. With people going to all kinds of places and doing different kinds of research, it would be beneficial to hear what everyone learned over the summer and a little bit about what they did.
We are thinking about having a quarterly Charleston NWS visit. If there is enough interest we will go once a quarter.
Welcome Back Cookout
Possible welcome back cookout after the first meeting in the fall to get to know all the new grad students and all the new people within our chapter. Details coming soon.---Alex Steinkamp.
