Open Access for AMS Journals and BAMS

Open Access Option for AMS Journal Authors

For a one-time fee of $800, authors who have paid page charges in full can choose to make the full contents of the final published version of their paper immediately available to all, subscribers and nonsubscribers, on the AMS Journals Online site through AMS “Open Choice.”

Note that any AMS journal volume older than two years is free and open to all, and those articles whose funders fall under the federal Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) requirements are freely available after one year. This applies to those manuscripts whose original or revised submissions were uploaded on or after 1 May 2016. The entire journal database, including accepted manuscripts not yet published [Early Online Releases (EORs)], is searchable by all, with access restricted to subscribers for the full text of EORs and articles from the most recent two years (with the above exception). Abstracts for published manuscripts and EORs are always available to nonsubscribers and subscribers alike.

Journal authors can request Open Choice when submitting a manuscript. If an article has already been accepted, the selection of Open Choice should be indicated when completing the Page Charge Form. The fee will be included when the paper is invoiced.

Some funders require that publications resulting from research they funded carry the open access CC BY reuse license. Please see the Reuse License web page for more information.

Open Access for BAMS
