A student luncheon will take place on Wednesday during the conference lunch break.  This casual event is an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to interact and network with several invited professionals from the community representing academia, private industry, government labs, and government operational settings.  Students can ask questions and chat about job opportunities, career paths, work-life balance and more! A limited number of tickets are available.

Storm Video Night

A session for presenting photos and videos is planned for Wednesday evening.  Participants who are interested in contributing their images or video should contact Victor Gensini (gensiniv@cod.edu).

Additional Special Events

The AMS Severe Local Storms 2016 program chairs and committee are planning several special events in Portland. Summaries of a few of these events can be found under the link (Special Events) in the left-hand column, further details will be provided closer to the event. Some of them require reserving venues outside of the hotel resulting in the need for a preliminary headcount ASAP. Kindly respond to the simple survey (link provided under the Special Events page), it only takes a few seconds to complete and your help is greatly appreciated. Please still complete the survey even if you do not plan on attending the event(s). Thank you and we look forward to seeing you in Portland!

Special Notes

Please note that election day, Tuesday, November 8th, takes place during the conference. You will be able to vote by absentee ballot. Please consult your state's website for more information, as applications, the process and deadlines vary by state.
