2021 AMS Washington Forum Virtual Meeting

2021 AMS Washington Forum Virtual Meeting

26–29 April 2021

Thank you for attending the 2021 AMS Washington Forum!

AWF VIRTUAL PLATFORM

The 2021 AMS Washington Forum provided a platform to examine public policy issues across the weather, water, and climate enterprise and had a mix of  leadership keynotes and relevant session topics including but not limited to:

  • Addressing Our Wildland Fire Weather Needs
  • An Update on the Latest Challenges and Opportunities in the Arctic
  • Policy Impacts on Enterprise Value
  • Data Commercialization (WMO)
  • Making Weather Water and Climate Programs Happen: Perspectives from Federal Agency Procurement Leaders
  •  Energy Policy and Science in the Next Decade
  • The New Blue Economy: Provision of the Ocean Observation Products and Services Needed to Support a Growing Blue Economy
  • Truth in Science - Scientific Integrity in the Public Sphere: (mis)trust, rumors, and risk

**The 2021 AMS Washington Forum took place in a virtual format. As we were not able to meet in person as planned, we had changed the format of conference to one that is conducive to virtual learning and collaboration. This event still provided an important platform to examine public policy issues across the weather, water, and climate sciences and featured several leadership keynotes. We hoped that by eliminating travel costs and setting registration rates as low as possible, we could maximize participation by those interested in learning more about how weather, water, and climate information can help support risk management across the public and private sectors.**

Connecting Science and Technology with Business and Public Policy

This much-anticipated event provided an important platform to examine public policy issues across the weather, water, and climate sciences. We had several leadership keynotes.

This meeting was open for anyone interested in learning more about how weather, water, and climate information can help support risk management across the public and private sectors. This included agencies and companies whose operations and planning are reliant on environmental factors.

The AMS Washington Forum was organized by the AMS Board on Enterprise Economic Development (BEED), a part of the AMS Commission on the Weather, Water, and Climate Enterprise (CWWCE).
