What's New?
New Chief Editor for Weather and Forecasting

In August AMS announced that Professor Gary M. Lackmann of North Carolina State University has been appointed chief editor of Weather and Forecasting (WAF). Professor Lackmann succeeds Professor Paul Markowski of Penn State University, who served as the journal’s chief editor from January 2012 through July 2017.

AMS is excited to announce that starting in September the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) exam will be switching from a test center based exam process to a live, web delivered exam from anywhere that is convenient for candidates as long as their computer and Internet connection meet minimum requirements. Project Atmosphere
In late July, NWS Director and former AMS President, Dr. Louis Uccellini, kicked off the 26th annual AMS Project Atmosphere professional development workshop for K-12 teachers at the NWSTC in Kansas City, Missouri. Here teachers start their lessons by learning about the air motion associated with high and low pressure systems. Information about the Summer 2018 workshop will be posted online this fall.
