Translation survey
AMS is evaluating the possibility of translating our Journal and BAMS article titles, abstracts, and author affiliations and names into additional languages, beginning with Simplified Chinese. We have created a survey to gauge the the level of interest among authors, readers, librarians, and members of the AMS community for this service. By taking our survey, you will be able to help the AMS make future decisions about our potential offering of translation services. The deadline to complete the survey is February 10. We thank you in advance for your time!

Multi-society letter concerning Executive Order on immigration and visas
AMS was among 152 organizations representing a broad spectrum of professional scientific, engineering and education societies, national associations, and universities to sign a letter to President Trump expressing deep concern that his Executive Order on visas and immigration will have a negative impact on the ability of scientists and engineers to enter, or leave from and return to, the United States. This compromises the United States’ ability to attract international scientific talent and maintain scientific and economic leadership and will reduce U.S. science and engineering output to the detriment of America and Americans. The brief explains that the release of such materials that are generally treated as confidential within the scientific community could significantly damage government scientists’ ability and willingness to conduct research into vitally important but politically charged subjects like climate change.
