The AMS Nominating Committee welcomes recommendations from the membership of candidates for the 2017 President-Elect and Council, which will be considered as that slate is prepared. Such recommendations will be most helpful if they are sent to the Nominating Committee nominatingcommittee@ametsoc.org by the end of December 2015 and are in the form of a 1-page letter describing the proposed candidate’s background and qualifications.

The National Science Foundation–supported AMS Climate Science Diversity Project was selected recently as a finalist for the New England Publishing Collaborative (NEPCo) Awards. Through this project, the AMS Education Program collaborated with Boston-based Second Nature to leverage institutions that are signatories of the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment as a way to get the AMS Climate Studies course offering into minority-serving institutions across the country. The new ebook textbooks for the Climate Studies course were highlighted as models for the publishing industry. The finalists, including AMS Executive Director Dr. Keith Seitter for AMS, gave presentations on 10 November in Cambridge, MA. At the end of the evening the AMS Climate Studies Diversity Project was awarded an impressive Third Place in the competition.

Abstract submissions for the 32nd Conference on Agricultural and Forest Meteorology/22nd Symposium on Boundary Layers and Turbulence/Third Conference on Biogeosciences are now open.
