Women in Science Committee Volunteer Application

The AMS Women’s Committee has a long-standing history of supporting and celebrating women in the weather, water, and climate sciences. Its roots date back to 1974, when AMS established committees focused on the status of women and minorities, which evolved into the Board on Women and Minorities in 1975. In 2020, the Board became the Board on Representation, Accessibility, Inclusion, and Diversity (BRAID), reflecting a broader commitment to creating an inclusive community for all AMS members. Today, the Women’s Committee continues this legacy by creating spaces for women and allies to connect, celebrate achievements, mentor one another, and build community. Our main annual activity is the AMS Women’s Luncheon, and this year we are excited to celebrate the 24th Annual Women’s Luncheon at the 2027 AMS Annual Meeting in Denver! We are also looking forward to expanding our work through webinars, networking opportunities, mentorship, and other activities throughout the year. We welcome new members and volunteers who are passionate about helping us strengthen, grow, and celebrate our community!
