Attention! On 24 July 2018, Editorial Manager upgraded from TeX Live 2015 to TeX Live 2018. This has resulted in new errors being flagged that were previously ignored in TeX Live 2015. Most of these errors are related to Unicode characters in the .tex and .bib files, often hyphens and parentheses, that have been carried over when text copied from another source is pasted into a LaTeX file.
The most common errors look like this:
! Package inputenc Error: Unicode character - (U+96)
(inputenc) not set up for use with LaTeX.
For now, the solution is to either manually replace the Unicode characters in your .tex and .bib files (you can use your log file to locate the Unicode characters) or to define the Unicode characters using the \DeclareUnicodeCharacter command in the preamble of the .tex file (again, the log file will tell you which Unicode characters need to be defined).
If you have not already done so, we recommend that you upgrade to TeX Live 2018. We also suggest that authors use the TeXworks editor included in the TeX Live download. If your PDF compiles in TeXworks running TeX Live 2018, then it should compile correctly when you submit your files to Editorial Manager.
Please read the documentation accompanying the AMS LaTeX files and the instructions below. If your question is not answered in the documentation, instructions, or FAQs, please contact email@example.com.
The AMS LaTeX support team is available to help resolve issues related to the use of AMS LaTeX files for submissions to the AMS and the submission of AMS LaTeX files to the Editorial Manager system. Please note that we are unable to devote resources to answering other general LaTeX questions or to troubleshoot issues with non-AMS templates.
