Best Poster: Hiroki Okamoto from Nagoya University, Japan, for “A Stationary Snowband Caused by Land-Sea Thermal Contrast in the Prevailing Along-Coast Wind During the Cold-Air Outbreak.”
Best Oral Presentation: Nobuhiro Suzuki from the University of Rhode Island for “Turbulent Airflow at Young Sea States with Frequent Wave Breaking Events: Large Eddy Simulation.”
Second Best Oral Presentation: A tie.
Emily J. Harrison from the University of Delaware for “Measuring Rain-Induced Momentum Exchange at the Ocean Surface under Low Wind Speed Conditions.”
Thomas J. Kilpatrick from the University of Hawaii for “Generation of Low-Frequency Spiciness Variability in the Thermocline.”
In addition, our committee gave each student presenter a complimentary copy of the AMS’s Glossary of Meteorology or The Callendar Effect.
