A special AMS Symposium will be held in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, on September 20 and 21, 2005 to help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the collaboration between the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and their predecessor agencies.
Program
The two-day symposium program will include presentations in the fields of air pollution meteorology, and air quality modeling and its applications to assess air pollution problems for air quality forecasting and air quality management.
The symposium will consist of seven sessions of presented papers and an evening poster session on the first day. Both oral and poster presentations are solicited for the following topics: (1) role of air quality models in decision-making, (2) meteorological modeling for air pollution applications; (3) air quality model application and evaluation; (4) air quality forecasting; and (5) emerging science in air quality modeling.
Detailed Program Information
There will be two luncheons with invited keynote speakers and a reception with the evening poster session. The final program will be published in the June 2005.
Call for Papers
Submission of Abstracts
All abstracts are to be submitted electronically and will be available on-line via the Web. Instructions for preparation of abstracts and manuscripts are posted on the Web site. January 15, 2005 is the deadline for abstract submission. A $60 abstract charge will be used to defray the cost of Web posting. Authors will be notified of the acceptance by March 1, 2005. The authors should submit completed manuscripts by 15 January, 2006 for inclusion in a special issue of JAM.

Presentation Fees
An optional presentation fee of $50 will be charged for any speaker who desires to have their presentation recorded and posted to the AMS Web Site for viewing by others after the conclusion of the Jubilee.

Meeting Registration
Attendees and speakers are required to register for this meeting. A registration fee of $150 will charged prior to August 20, 2005. After August 20 and on site, a fee of $190 will be charged.
