The 2009-2010 AMS Chapter of the Year |

Twin Cities AMS offers PDHs for Monthly EventsTwin Cities Chapter of the AMS is pleased to offer Professional Development Hours (PDHs), or Credit, for monthly chapter presentations and activities. In recent years the education and background of individuals in meteorology and related industries has expanded to include those with degrees in engineering, hydrology, GIS, MBAs, project management, leadership, etc. Many of these areas of study include licenses and certifications beyond the "traditional" degree. In order to remain current in these licenses and certifications, individuals must provide documentation of ongoing training and professional development in job-related subjects. Some examples include certification in flood plain management, professional engineering licensure, and Project Management Professional (PMP) licensure, among others. While the requirements for a qualifying activity are subjective and vary between the various certifications, the Twin Cities AMS leadership believes that many of our monthly activities would qualify. We will offer 1 PDH for those who attend. You do not need to be a Twin Cities AMS member to attend and earn a PDH. The only requirement to earn a PDH is that you will need to sign in at the meeting and provide your contact information so we can back you up should you get audited. A PDH certificate will be emailed to those who provided their information following the meeting. This is a great opportunity to invite new people and provide an incentive for them to attend. Not all of the Twin Cities AMS events qualify as continuing education. We will highlight on our website events list and in announcement e-mail messages those activities at which we will offer PDHs. The program coordinator for the Professional Development Hours is Diane Cooper. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact her at profdev@twincitiesams.org. |
