My interest in weather goes way back, as I'm sure my high school classmates will tell you. After graduating from the University of Minnesota in computer science, I earned my masters degree in atmospheric sciences from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. I worked at the West Gulf/ River Forecast Center, then eventually wound up at NOHRSC. Here I do meteorology, computer programming, database administration, computer administration, and other duties as assigned.

Lori Bovitz
Lakeville, MN

Technical writer, Kroll Ontrack
Lori has been interested in the weather since she was a little girl growing up in the northern suburbs of the Twin Cities. Because of this interest in weather, she went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to earn her meteorology degree. After graduating in 1994 she got her dream job as a meteorologist in the National Weather Service at Fort Worth, Texas. While working there she worked in all aspects of meteorology. However, other interests and a desire to live in Minnesota resulting in her leaving the NWS for other opportunities. While still being active in weather, Lori works as a technical writer in a legal technologies company. During her "free" time she hangs out with her two boys, does taekwondo, and works toward her MBA. She stays in touch with the weather by being involved in the local chapter of the AMS, working as a mentor for the AMS DataStreme program which mentors K-12 teachers on the weather, and goes storm chasing with either her family or her sister-in-law.
