Oregon AMS Updates

Oregon AMS members, et al:

Here are a few updates to pass along ---

Cancelled Oregon AMS Global Warming Meeting - Take 2
The Oregon AMS executive council met this past weekend and voted unanimously to move forward with rescheduling the cancelled OMSI November AMS meeting at another venue. More than 92% of replies received by the Oregon AMS (after the OMSI cancellation) were in support of rescheduling the meeting, regardless of personal views on the meeting topic. This will be our January meeting topic with a time and location TBD in Portland. It will likely be a weeknight meeting at 7pm with a 6pm social hour. Depending on the venue, dinner may also be offered. With all the media attention the OMSI cancellation received, we are expecting a larger turnout in January. More details will be forthcoming.

OMSI "Winter Weather Forecast Conference" Videos Now Posted
Thanks to Erik Holm we now have complete videos posted of all the speakers and forecasters at the 19th Annual Winter Weather Forecast Conference at OMSI back in October. To view any / all of the videos click here for link

2011/2012 Oregon AMS Dues
Oregon AMS membership dues for the 2011/2012 season were due back in September. If you have yet to pay for the current year, please print off our application, fill it out and mail it with your payment of $7 (cash or check) to the address listed on the application located here. Many of you have elected to pay for subsequent years. Multiple years are also $7 per year (example; 5 yrs x $7 = $35). Membership dues directly support the Oregon AMS capital expense budget. The more members we have who are current with their dues, the higher quality speakers and meeting topics we will be able to organize for our members! New members are also welcome to join at anytime during the year, using the same application link above. The Oregon AMS is always open to new members from both near and far. If you have a dues related question, please contact Oregon AMS Treasurer John Rinier at: john@johnrinier.com

Thanks & Happy Holidays
Special thanks to all of you who replied via e-mail with meeting ideas for 2012. We have some good meetings that will be coming your way after the holiday break! The Oregon AMS normally takes the month of December off for the holidays! See you all in January.
